The anticipated race! My 96 gt vs a 89 gt. You shold read this!
Ok. i've been wanting to race my buddys 89 5.0 gt since i bought my 96 gt.
SPECS:
1989 GT
5.0, 5 spd, 3.08 gears (stock),o/r h pipe, 2.5" exhaust /w flowmasters, cold air intake (fenderwell), 1" intake heat spacer, and TB coolant bypass. kuhmo ectsa supra's rear tires.
My 1996 GT
4.6/5spd. 3.27 (stock), flowmaster force 2 exhaust (2.5") WITH 2 highflow cats! ....and....no, thats it....well, oh yah, my "rage- road hugger tires" (harder than crap...180,000 mile tire)(17", 27 bucks a piece)
the race: only up to about 75mph.
GO-
he takes off and i am left about 2 cars back at 6000RPM spining the tires...i grab 2nd gear and just that alone i catch up both car legnths to a dead even tie, i missed 3rd gear and let off...he pulled ahead and once i got into 3rd and floored it again, i caught back up to end the race with his front bumper about 1 ft or 2 in front of mine...and i was catching him.
it was the shi* !!! if any of u would have been driving and hit 3rd gear, my car definitly would of taken him, guess im just not a good driver....oh, and f i had tires like his..man that would of been sweet....wonder how much i would of won by?
also- i dropped the clutch from about 2500rpms....i guess that is too much?
