I have an autometer gauge I'm hooking up elec. for water temp question is should I run it off the driverside of the block where the plug is or should I run a T off the one on the left of the alternator and will that be accurate or not?......thanks Dan

Default RE: Electrical gauge water temp sensor

You're going to get higher than actual water temps off the block. I wouldn't run a "t" off the factory location. I drilled and tapped my thermostat housing using a letter "Q" drill bit and a 1/8x 24 npttap. The autometer sending unit has tapered threads so don't run the tap completely through. Stop about 3/8 of the way and check against the sending unit. Continue tapping until the sending unit "seats" correctly.Go as far as you need to get about 6 turns of thread on the sending unit. Don't forget to use a high temp silicone thread sealant or tape.
