I have a friend with an 03 stang putting around 425 to the wheels with a p1sc procharger. He currently has a 5 speed but the car is pretty much only raced and driven on the street once in a blue moon. He wants go to an auto tranny. He plans to run possibly up to 500rwhp in the future. I will be doing the tranny swap for him, but im not too familiar with Ford trannys. Anyone here running an auto with around 500rwhp? What would the best tranny for the job be and what is involved with the swap? He said he is willing to go with a 3 speed, but im wondering if there are any 4 speeds capeable of holding the power when built right?

Again, im not so sure about ford trannys...I just don't want him to be in the same boat as some of the GM guys with the 4l60e's. I know some of the OD trannys are hit or miss. If built by the right builder they can hold the power claimed, but many others crap out. I swapped my 4l60e out for a th400 in my 96 Impala. Never had a problem since.
