Default Stall converter?

thinking about doing a stall converter in the very near future i was told by a couple people that i will need a tans cooler if i get a stall converter for my 2000 mustang. Later i found out these people were *** holes and lied about other **** they told me to be fact. so iam here to get the real answer. Do you need to have a trans cooler to run a stall converter? Is it a really good idea to run one when gettin a stall converter? or what this guy a the shop a complete dick head?
