well, I put on the MAM throttle body plenum and inlet pipe all at once, I wanted to feel my money at work. It was a noticable difference for me! I was happy..
just a thought but you need a bigger gear than 3.73, 4.10 min in an auto

because the electronics is calibrated for the larger sampling tube. the maf is dumb, it bases its calculations on a precise area of airflow - if you make the sampling tube flow 10% more air then your gonna run 10% leaner.

Most aftermarket mass air meters (like ProM) are simply factory Ford mass air meters, they take the guts out and put it into a larger mm size tube and re-calibrate the electronics to work with the larger size and no screen / post.
How so? Unless Pro-m is alot differnt, my C&L setup yused the stock air meter sensor.

I think that C&L and other companys simply vary the size and shape of the tube the sensor sits in. I know that C&L sells different tubes so you can "tune" your maf to your car.

BTW why would you want to port the stock unit? It isnt that much cheaper (really if at all) than buying a new one, and unless his car is different its plastic, which would not really like being milled on (there isnt that much there to take away).
thats what I said, aftermarket meters use the stock sensor in a larger sampling tube. the stock sensor is recalibrated for the larger tube.

I wanted to port it because there is nothing like "FREE" power I guess, plus I'm cheap haha. I know the c&l aftermarket MAFs don't connect up to the stock airbox which I want to retain because I have a custom ram air setup which uses the stock airbox. Oh yea, my stock MAF is metal not plastic...which would make it easy to take that center post out and still be strong and have beefy walls.

i have a ported MAF the same one your talking about. the port alone isnt radical but it was good enought for an honest 2/10 pickup in the 1/4. and i dont have any lean problems, then again i have a chip, but no probelms.
