Too much gear?

Too much gear?
A lil background info....I just dropped in a built motor and im breaking it in easy before I supercharge it. I have a Keene Bell 2.1 kit with a 9lb pulley and a 12 lb pulley. At the moment I have an automatic transmission and stock gearing.
now the stang I had before this, I swapped out the stock gears for 3.73s and i liked them but I think I would have liked 4:10s. This being said....with the way the KB works down low, would 4:10s be too much gear?
I've never been to a quarter mile strip in my life and I dont think there even are any in CT or around where I live. The closest one I know of is in New Hampshire like 2 hours away.....point being, i'm not worried about having great track times...
For my application I'm just not sure what the best gearing would be...i've heard 4:10s are too much gear with a blower and a manual transmission.....but how about a blower/4.10s/auto?

RE: Too much gear?
With the way that a twin screw supercharge hits hard with low end torque, I would imagine 4.10's would be too much gear for the setup. With the Centri's, the boost takes a little while to build up so I think they can get away with it easier. For you, I would suggest running it with the stock gears for a while to see what you think. Then after you do your suspension and what not, decide if gears are necessary. I would think that a set of 3.73's would be the highest you would want to go on a built motor pushing 12psi on a twin screw blower.

RE: Too much gear?
Well, it's an auto, so even if you blow through first gear, you're not shifting it yourself, so I don't think it'd be as troublesome to drive everyday if it were a stick.
BTW, where in CT are you from, if you don't mine my asking? I'm from the southern part, near New Haven area.

RE: Too much gear?
get the kb on then decide its not enough gear and upgrade to the 4.10's. that would suck if you got the 4.10's on then the kb and realized its too much, then had to switch back.
and your closest tracks are lebanon vally in NY, e-town in NJ and the one in NH.

RE: Too much gear?
I live in windsor right next to hartford. I spend most of my time driving between windsor and tolland to go to work (i-84) and windsor to marlborough for the girlfriend (91 south/rt 2)
the cams i have in now are VT stage II's...i just dropped the engine in a lil over a week ago, so i'm still breaking it in....it hasnt been over 2250 rpms yet lol
i have a lot of other little things to worry about before i do gears or even the 12lb pulley...like more fuel system upgrades and a few suspension things....
trying to find a place in CT that installs roll cages lol.....

RE: Too much gear?
Thats cool.Beings later on your going to run the 12lb and its a kb i would go with 3.73.They will lit u reach out there more in your3rd or 4th gears.Your going to run some healthy numbers with the 12lb and the 3.73 would be fine
