Default Should I port my heads?

Alright I'm running a stock rebuilt 98 GT shortblock, stock pi heads, comp xe270 cams, pi intake, full bolt ons. I just can't decide if I want to get the heads ported. My question is how my rwhp is that set up right there, and then how would it roughly be if I have the heads ported?

You should have probably thought about it during the rebuild

i cant help with your question but are all those mods mentioned in your car and running or is it still in progress, if they are how does it run ( 1/4 mile if possible). personaly ive been torn between motor work or 4v motor swap.
good luck

All those mods are in progress. I'm at the point where I can't decide if I want to ship the heads off to have them ported and spend $1000 for that, or just slap them on.

My car runs 14.30 at 97mph in the quarter with the NPI motor and the mods in my sig.

But if it's only around 20rwhp I think I'll just forget about it.

Youre better off getting a supercharger. It probably wont cost that much more than just porting but your gains would much more significant.

Yeah, porting is a whole lot cheaper, but the gains are no where near the supercharger.

I think I'll just scrap the idea of porting and start saving for the blower.

I dunno what kinda crappy porting you wanna get done. Id only go with extrude hone which is around a grand not to mention you gotta send your intake right along with the heads there, chock up another $200 for shipping.
And I've seen cheaper deals on S/C's than $3500. Come to think of it, is $3500 is installed price isnt it?

First off u got robbed on the porting! Second a supercharger for a 5.0 is cheaper than a 4.6! It cost me 700 and change for my porting. Fox Lake know what their doing.
