Can anyone tell me the maximum speed in each gear for an Automatic 2002 GT?

Also, if I manually shift mine to second gear, from a standing start, it takes off in second and not first. Is that normal for this car?

I just bought the car last weekend and am discovering mods on this car I didn't know were there. LOL.

Maybe a shift kit or tuning because it chirps wheel real strong when it shifts to second (automatically).

why would you start in second gear? autos are very different from manuals... 4.30 in an auto if you plan on a N/A build. 4.10 if youmight go F/I or nitrous 3.90 if youre unsure and 3.73 if you want to waste your money

ok.. theoretically...

1st- 45
2nd- 85
3rd- 135
4th- 195

these are rough estimates using a 3.27 gear ratio, but good luck getting there haha

And as far as taking off from second I was curious as my previous car would take off in first if I put the Auto selector in second.

well, i mean you can take off in second, but i imagine the acceleration wont be there. you can do it, but its not recommended and doesnt provide any benefits.

I dont think a stock gt is going to be going 195 mph

ok once again, THEORETICALLY not meaning it will happen, but in theory the 4th gear will run out at 195 mph. thanks for pointing out the obvious [sm=chairshot.gif]

i see what you mean. In your old car if you put it in 2 and started driving it would start from 1 automatically. Not with these cars, the number you put it in is the gear its in. 1st is 1st 2nd is 2nd D with overdrive off is third and overdrive on is 4th
