Spark Plugs???
I had this problem for about a week now ever since I hit my rev limiter. I believe I have a slight misfire. When I rev my engine sitting still if I the rpm gauge sputters. I had a friend of mine in the car with me and he said it seemed like a misfire. My guestion is how hard are the plugs to change on the 4.6 2V. I know they have to be gapped to.054 I know how to do that and I know to do them one at a time. I know the fuel rail has to be removed. Is there any specific way it has to be pulled off? And I don't want to break any of the coil packs. Is there a certain way they have to come off? Or does the problem I am having resemble something else? Any help is apprieated

I know E714FEVER it looks like you have to take the fuel rail off. It's been the only thing stopping me from changing my plugs. I have new ones gapped and ready to go in, but it looks like it'sa lot of work so... But if you don't have to remove the fuel rails, I don't see how you would remove the coil packs. It looks too tight.

You don`t need to remove the fuel rail. Just take the bolts off the coil packs, twist them a little bitand pull them off.

RE: Spark Plugs???
You do not have to remove the fuel rails, nor do you have to worry about "breaking the coil packs"--they are actually pretty rugged units. A photo may help...As you can see, the "wire" is a stainless steel (actually niconel I think) spring, and the rubber boot is both removable and very flexible. The spring can be removed from the terminal tab in the coil pack by twisting itin a clockwise direction while lightly pulling the spring outward. The spring "wire" does not clip or snap onto the spark plug, it is the spring force that keeps things connected, and the boot is dimensioned so that you'd have to really work at it to get it reinstalled incorrectly (I.e. not onto the plug).Once you remove the electrical connector and the mounting screw you will find that the whole assembly will pull out quite easily--in fact, much more easily than most conventional plug wires. The only real "gotcha" is the #4 plug (passenger side rear) where you will have to unplug the fuel injector connector to get room to wiggle the coil pack out. It's not bad by any stretch, except as compared to the others which practically pop out on their own...
