THey make stuff to help the IRS with traction and wheelhop - don't know much about it though.

Here's what you do, go to your local junk yard, find a newer GT that is wrecked, grab the 8.8 rear end and do a swap(make sure you change the stock R & P to at least 3.55s). But you'll need a GT cat back to complete it out. This is the only true way to fix the wheel hop, get rid of the IRS. Once my car is out of warranty, I'm thinking heavily on doing this...Other than that, stiffen up the chassis with a subframe connector(welded type), that should help a bit. And like MD said earlier, there are other things you can do to the IRS. Do a search within these forums, I think I posted a link with complete detailed instructions on how to swap the IRS out.

i wouldnt get rid of irs thats a major up grade from a GT. I would only do that if u do nothing but race the 1/4 mile. irs makes the ride a lot smoother. just my .02
