I haven't had one on my car since about 2 weeks after I owned it. I live in Arizona where it is consistantly 110 plus plus motor heat and my hood looks BRAND NEW with factory paint. If it was an important safety feature the NHRA might require one for street cars... but they don't.

Ignorant nothing you are being the ignorant one in at least 2 different threads. Someone asks a question and you say to drain the coolant and run the car at WOT for 30 minutes. THATS BEING AN *******!!!!

the hood insulator is there to help contain a fire and protect the hood from heating. taking it off will not hurt your car or cause a fire to break out suddenly. eventually your hood will continue to heat up and then cause the paint to get that oxidize look. my father us to own an aircraft painting business, and is pretty much an expert as far as paint. i was told when thinking about taking mine off that eventually it would happen. when i asked how long it would take, he said it usually takes around 10years to start, depending on how much the car is driven. so, unless you are going to keep car forever, don't worry about it and take it off.

after you take it off, make sure you drain all your coolant and run the motor at WOT for 30 minutes

I thought it was quite funny. Some people need to get out more often and not take **** so damn serious. With all the BS that flies on here it is entertaining to say the least.
