Raptor shift light installed
I installed the raptor shift light I got about a year ago (getting lazy anymore lol) finally today, in prep for going to the track this weekend.
I didn't take any pics, as it looks exactly the same as writeups out there, but it turned out really sweet. it was super easy with a coathanger to get the wire from the dash to the ECU, and the wiring was fairly easy (much more so than I thought). Simply follow the instructions, connect 3 wires, and your ready to go (other than setting the DIP switches and pots).
I took it out for a test, and it looks like to me that I have been shortshifting into 3rd and 4th unless I was looking at the tach. I kept waiting and waiting for the light to come on (set at 5900 to give me a little reaction time) so I think I have been leaving 2nd and 3rd around 5500 RPM instead of 6000+. I can't wait to see what this ends up doing at the track
The light is super bright, I had no trouble seeing it even today when it was VERY sunny out. It matches the tach exactly as far as I can tell RPM wise, seems like a really good unit.
Anyone with a 5 speed should look into this mod, its really easy to install and looks sweet, and it definatly will help you get your shifts just right every time.

RE: Raptor shift light installed
I mounted it in the very center/top of the bezel that goes around the gauge cluster. the only thing it gets in the way off is the "brights" indicator light... which isn't any big deal IMO.
I was going to do it in the vent, but it looked like alot more hassle, not to mention being much harder to see in daytime. The best part about the light is being able to look straight ahead and still having an indicator that its time to shift (NOW lol). My thinking was that in the vent it would be harder to see during the day without turning my head and staring at it (not a good idea when racing lol).

Ha!
Had mine for 9 months before I put it on. I completely understand what you mean by short shifting. It seems like forever until those led's light up. I mounted mine between the mach tweeter speaker grill and my dual a-pillar gauge pod on the pod itself. Turned out nice. The self diagnosis the Raptor does upon start up was cool at first. It's kind of annoying now.Especially when starting the car in my garage early in the morning.
Hey, I thought I was the only one to use a coat hangerfor a fish tape.[8D]

I had one of these on my Harley. Before you guys start, I didn't post so you could take shots at the hog, we have enough of those threads! Anyway the raptors are bad a$$! Easy to install, do not take up your whole dash like others do, and come in different color led's for your liking. I was pissed cause I didn't think to take it off when I sold the bike. So now I'm thinking of getting another. Here is the site ifanyone isinterested. www.raptorperformance.com

I've had mine since October and still haven't installed it.
Is it really that easy?

I did end up splicing in a extra bit of wire on the coil plug wire so that it would reach. I used butt connectors since I didn't have the ones on hand that splice inwithout cutting the wire, and I am not a big fan of those anyway.
I spent more time looking for a dammed screw (lost the one with the raptor) than I did wiring it up, I had to dig thru 1/2 the garage to find one that would work.
