Default Gear Questions

Thinking of changing my gears, I do mostely highway driving so I was thinking of 3.73 gear ratio, just wondering how hard it is to switch these out and what they will do to my speedometer? how much time should a shop take to replace gears?

well 3.73's will hurt your gas milage a little bit id say at 70 u will be at 2500 rpm but it will take a shop 6 hours labor probably so a day as long as it all goes right if your car is a 99 or newer u can just buy a tuner and change it to 3.73s so ur speedo will be right if u have a mechanical speedo 96-98 u can buy a speed cal or a speedo gear i bought gear and the gear is very easy to install id say 10 mins to do i had a lift to use and i did it in like 2 mins so its not hard

i bought the bearing kit and gears and fluid and the shop is doing it for $275 a lot of shops dont like to use customer supplied parts cuz according to many cases once the mechanic uses the parts they are considered in good shape and inspected and he hasto be responsible if anythinggoes wrong and they dont want that issue
