Gotta wait on the long tubes for now, mostly because not enough $$$, also I have to pass smog, and I need to decide if it's worth taking them off and putting them back on every 2 years. My uncle lives in a county not far from me where they don't have to smog their cars so I'm thinking about trying to register my cars up there so I don't have to smog any of them. Then I'll be modding like there's no tomorrow.
You shouldn't have any problems passing a smog test with LT headers. The only problems you will have is if they dont have an executive order (assuming you live in CAL?). MM&FF Built up a competely smog legal blown 331 with LTs and the works, acutally put out less emmissions than the car did stock in their "emmissions" tune.

BTW, I agree with the people above. Its time to get them heads to a machine shop. I was told the machinging work would cost between 300 and 800 bucks depending on how far I wanted to go (could got this done with the cam install, was damm near ready to pull the heads).

Also, have you thought about cams??? Perfect time to do them. Could be looking at 310+ RWHP with cams and headwork

I'll worry about cams later. I do plan on it, but since the car is currently my daily driver and all my other cars are not road worthy, I just need to get the heads and intake on asap. When I get the '85 GT or my Pontiac up and running I'll yank the heads back off and have them machined.

I do live in CA and as far as I know long tubes are not smog legal at all in the state. At least I've never seen a set that will pass CA emissions.
