Man oh man....
it's kind of relieving to hear about other people taking off the heads in their car, since it's still a possibility that I may have to undergo that task in my car to fix the threads in the 3rd cylinder...
Just a quick question for someone who has done it before... how long did it take/would you expect it to take, if you were ONLY removing the passenger side head, but it was your first time doing it....
So far we have off next to nothing.. only the fuel rails, and the throttle body are moved, and technically, the rails are just moved out of the way, opposed to being completely off of the car.
*ps. one of you needs to move to NE indiana

well, it's my first time, and I've only got about 3.5 hrs invested so far. You have to remove quite a bit of stuff as you probably already know. I left everything together on the intake and took TB, upper plenum, intake together. Unbolted fuel rails flipped them up out of the way. You'll have to remove timing chain cover(keep in mind there are 4 bolts from oil pan bolted into cover too) you could also remove the coolant overflow tank to help with space, power steering pump, because there's a bolt hidden behine the pulley for timing chain cover. Since your only takeing off the head, you could possibly keep your cam gear in it's place in the chain so you don't have to worry abou that. Unbolt the header, which I haven't done yet. So I think unless you have a buddy to help so you guys can work both ends at same time, your probably looking out about 4-5 hrs to get the head completely off. But that is just my guess.
Actually you can leave the heads and shortys on there plus a lot of other partsand pull the motor. I've done more than a few and can get it out, motor and trans, in a few hours. Where you are now, do as stated above with some tape or rubber bands to hold the bolts up, good luck.
