I wonder if it is a different catback, with the Stinger mufflers welded in, then the piping, and other borla tips ont eh end?

i mean, essentially it would sound about the same, .. but.. i dont konw for sure..

I think borlas sound incredible...in fact theres a lot of quality companies that make unique and killer exhaust systems....

when it comes down to it though, nothing sounds better to me than a full Mac exhaust system....mac longtubes, O/R Prochamber, Catback....I like some stangs with the racer sound that an X pipe gives them, but no company has been able to really NAIL the old school mustang muscle car sound as perfectly as Mac has. Its deep, its loud and it rumbles in just the right way.

and i dont think anyone can complain much about Mac nowadays quality-wise since they make everything with a stainless steel option now...and not just the rusts-off-in-a-year aluminum pipes with 'durablack coating' or whatever on them. That was the only issue i had with mac when i first got my car and was looking at their stuff...but now I have the prochamber and catback in stainless and LOVE it....id imagine it would sound even more badass on a 4V too....

just be sure to use a little locktite (blue stuff) on some of the catback screws as the first time i put it on, the tailpipes came a little loose after maybe a month.

like i said, lots of companies (borla included) make kickass gear, but if you want to capture an oldschool mustang sound, a mac setup is the way to go.....

however, you said you were pretty much set on an Xpipe...and from personal experience, Mac stlyle mufflers can sound weird to downright bad with an Xpipe....i had a friend with a BBK X and Mac flowpaths welded in....sounded horrible...if youre set on the x pipe, i'd say get the borlas (or bassani, or SLP loudmouths)....just my .02

Where do you guys come up with this sh*t? Not even cheap oem escort lx exhaust rusts in that short time. I know someone who drives that car (escort..aka POS) in snow, salt, rain and parks their car on grass/wet grass all the time, been doing it for 3 years (it was replaced brand new 3 years ago) and there's not a hint of rust on it period. AND they don't take care of it. They just gas it, have the oil changed and go. As long as you don't drive it in salt....it will last on the car for years and years.

72Mach, technically all mufflers are welded on. [:'(]

I like the sound of chambered mufflers a lot but I just went with Borla stingers about a month ago and I couldn't be happier. It took me a long time to choose which exhaust I wanted but I went with borla because it has a kind of exotic sound under acceleration and it is awsome. I had a friend drive my car for as I listened and I needed a towel afterwards. Video clips don't do any exhaust justice but the stingers are FULL of volume and have a wicked aggrerssiverumble and sound to them. I don't know how they sound with o/r mid pipes but with my stock h it sounds aggressive with no rasp or popping. They also sound awsome when your accelerating around cars, buildings, under bridges and any where else where an object can reflect the sound back to you.; its a great driving experience. As far as cost, I'm sure you plan on buying the exhaust once so you might as well buy the one you really want ONE time and be happy. I paid $607 for my stingers and really its only about $100 more than a stainless Mac exhaust, give or take a few dollars. Then ask yourself how much longer would you have to wait to have the extra money to get it, it may not take long at all and may be worth the wait. If you go with stingers for sure, excellent choice. If you went with chambered, those still sound greatand I'm sure you'll be happy with them.
