Just installed it a couple days ago. shifts fine. it makes a sound that makes me think the little cup is loose. the noise has no paticular rythum just a random "knocking sound" i can actully feel the vibration from it on top of the inner boot.( I know a sound clip would be nice) makes this noise in neutral and in gear louder when i hit bumps ? ANY ideas

 

Slight rattles are common with aftermarket shifters but what your saying doesn't to me.
Did you install the shifter? If you did, the first thing I would do is open everything back up and basically just reinstall it. See if that does anything.

 

Something is not right. Just about all short throw shifters vibrate and make noise. My MGW plays a symphony in 5th gear but it never made a knocking sound.

 

+1 on tryin to reinstall it and see if it makes a difference. Thats what I would do in your situation.

 

I feel like a moron but i figured out my problem. I tighned the inner boot bolts to tight,at firstbending the little plate. That made it slighty knock on the frontright shifter bolt. barely rubbing but made lots of noise. bent it straight didnt tighten my bolt so much and its fixed.
