Default PI Cam Swap People!!! Help

I've read caspers write up, and one from stangnet. I have all the sockets, cam gear bolts, inch and a foot lb tourque wrench. My question is what problem areas have the people that have done it incountered? I do not have an impact wrench so what are some good tips to get the cam gear off without one. Check my order:

Take followers out ( i'll be using a flat head screw driver), undo cam girdles (slowly as to not break), unbolt cam gear ( watch to not drop gasket between cam and the gear, replace cam, replace followers, cam gear.

I'm pretty sure i'm good to go, i just want to make sure cause i haven't done any work like this before. Thanks in advance guys.

FORD makes some special tool you can use to get the cam gear off. It goes in the middle of the cam (in between the cams caps) and one part goes on the bottom and the other one on top, then you tighten the two bolts real tight and that will keep the cam from rotating. Now you can loosen the cam gear bolt with ease. Also there is this tool Ford makes that makes it real easy to put the rockers in. It looks like a bird crows foot or something like that. Basically after you have torqued the cams down (remember cam cap bolts are only (INCH LBS). The tool goes under the cam and pushes down on the valve spring, pushing the valve down into the cylinder bore. Now you can just slide your rocker right in.

So are you just putting PI Cams inNPI heads?

I know about the two tools. I asked ford dealer about them. Do you know how much they cost? Well ill just say its an arm and a leg if they'll even let you buy them. And yes i will be putting pi cams in npi heads. In about a month or twoi will also be putting on a pi intake manifold. I just came accross a gr8 deal on these cams on ebay a month back and had to get em.

Manyauto stores let you borrow tools like that, if you have a store nearby you should ask them. How much did you pay for the cams? I am looking at doing a pi cam swap alsoif I can get the parts for the right price.

Any tips for taking off the cam gear bolt without using a impact wrench?

I really can't think of anything to use for taking those cam gears off. Have you looked into purchasing a cheap impact and air compressor. You can always return them when you're finished.
