HEY guys, I just picked up my first Stang it's a 96 GT and I've got a problem. It's backfiring when I slam on the gas and it is also "putt-ing" I'm doing about 60KM's and and hit the gas. Any idea of what it can be? Can it be low grade gas that I put in? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. </P>

A ton of things can cause that. How about starting with a basic tune-up?</P>

 

Yeah, try sparks, new distributor and rotor, and check timing, could be a bad EGR, or other emmision control.</P>
