Default Tranny fluid change

Picked up some Mobil 1 Synth ATF.

Going to change the fluids this weekend. Since there is no pan to drop, am I going to need a pump to get all the oil out? I haven't looked to see exactly where the plug is yet to see if it could pool in the case anywhere.

Thanks buttwipes

yea i normally wipe my a$$, with the t45 its on pass side and you shouldnt have to use a pump well at least not with t45 it all will drain out a hole 3+ qts. you will need a pump to put the new stuff in though

I'm not sure how it differs on the T-56 but on the T-45 your going to want to get the fluid heated up, then get the car level on jackstands. You first remove the fill plug, then the drain plug. The drain plug is at the bottom of the case so most of the fluid should drain out. As far as re-filling it, my method is a 2 person job. First, just get a rubber hose, snake it down the shifter hole from inside the car. Have a buddy on the ground to line it up with the fill plug. Get a funnel and start pouring till fluid starts coming out of the fill hole. Make sure it's full and not just leaking from the hose.

screw that ^^! Go to your local auto parts store, buy a $5.00 pump that will thread onto your mobil 1 bottles and pump it in, Ive done it numerous times, its cake! Oh yes, all will come out of the drain plug

I'm not worried about pumping it in, I just want to make sure there is no pools of old oil anywhere in the case that I could remove with a pump I build.

I'll be pouring it in by removing the short shifter. It's a real PITA to get a 03/04 in the air on jackstands without SFC's. [8D]

Got impatient last night and changed the fluid. I was able to get everything out with a little uneven jacking. I was surprised it was able to pool in a couple spots - but I mostly think my garage floor must not be even although it was done less than 3 years ago.

Anyway, it took about 30 mins. I took it for a driver this morning and the difference it made in smoothness for shifting is absolutely ridiculous. Not to mention it quieted down the transmission ten-fold....shifts like butter now.

Didn't quite expect it to be so different...
