Is it all speakers or just one? I had a buzzing sound in my passenger side door speaker that sounds simular to what you describe. It ended up being the speaker, got a direct replacement (out of an Explorer) on ebay for $9. The speaker didn't look blown or anything, there was no separation of the cone from the coil, it just went bad. Swapped it out and no more buzz.

On my car it's a lowish pitch (but not a rumble), sort of "rolling", staticy, sound coming from the sub-woofers--which sort of fills the car. It's not very loud, but is quite noticable when you stop and the program level is low (or you turn down the level, it's independent of the level setting).

The Mach 460 system doesn't sound that bad when supplied with a decent signal (a clean non-bass boosted FM station, or a CD), however when faced with the typical overly compresssed, overly bassy urban FM signal there's no way to roll off the bass below 75Hz without mangling it at 150Hz+ too--the turnover point for the bass control is way too high. Also, the DSP modes (other than OFF and maybe NEWS) are useless; ranging in environmental effect from interstate rest area tiled men's room, to bottom of a 55 gallon drum with a couple inches of water in it...Fortunately I don't listen to it that much (Ipreferlistening tothe motor), so as long as I can make the noise go away by thumping the floor it'll do.

I like the stock 460 system, I really only listen to country, classic rock, and alternative, no need for a lot of bass. Plus I am coming from cars like a dodge truck with nothing fancy

Now I know I'm old--I think it's too bassy (not with a good signal, however as I said above there's no way to compensate for the pumped-up bass most FM stations crank out)...
