if i'm goin down the road (like i tend to do when i'm in a car), and floor it, the car downshifts and makes this super loud screeching noise. sounds like something is slipping but idk. any suggestions? obviously, the car's an auto

is it just a screeching noise? sounds like maybe it could be gear whine, how long has it been doing this for?

 

If it's a screech with downshifting that you generally don't hear, it's most likely your serp belt. The sudden increase of RPM's with a sudden increase of load will make it squeel if it's in need of replacing.

yea that's what i thought, but i did not want to risk not finding out and then messing something up.
