ORIGINAL: 96GTSMOKER

I think it will be faster than my 96 gt stcok motor. 5.4 pistons have got to be bigger and I think he is dong more than I say or understand. I still got a week to wait and I hope it pushes with the dyno tune close to 300 rwhp but I am hoping to get 280 most. With the Demon Tuner already on my stock motor it should work with this motor also.
There is no difference in piston diameter between a 4.6 and a 5.4. The crank stroke/rod lengthmake up the extra displacement. A 4.6 and 5.4 bothhave a 3.552" borestock. If you had your motor rebuilt for 3 grand and he put stock 04 pistons back in it you have a stock Mustang GT and a lighter wallet. It doesn't matter if the pistons came from a 4.6 or a 5.4, they're the same diameter.

Like everyone else said, for 3 grand you could have a built motor. It surprises me that you're forking out this kind of cash and you don't really know what the guy is doing to it. It sounds like hesees this too and is taking advantage of you.

I think you need to get a list of the actual modifications this guy is making and post it here. All we can really do is speculate, and it doesn't sound like you reall know what you're talking about (no offense). So for us to help you out we need more, hard info.

the 04 pistons will give you 9.4 compression... if you keep your stock ones you will run like 9.7 compression which is more power... the pi heads have less cc of a chamber compared to the npi so they make it up by taking some outta the piston.
