S/c on a 99-04 GT?
Hey guys,
Just wondering would it be safe to put a s/c kit on it without building the engine. My goal is about 400 h.p. and it will be my dd. Would the engine be o.k. I know a good tune is required and i have a local shop that has really great feed back which i will go to because he's a mustang guy. Also what are your thoughts on doing the s/c on the gt or a bolt on mach 1?
Thnaks,

S/C the GT. Yes, your engine will be fine so long as you run around 8 psi of boost. You will get close to your 400 hp, but not quite. There are a couple things you could do to get there, though. The s/c wont hurt the car. Go for it!
Also, check this link out if that's what you're thinking you want to do:

That'll probably help. Enjoy.

RE: S/c on a 99-04 GT?
i got a Vortech at 10 psi with a powerpipe!!! im making just shy of 400rwhp. i havent had the first motor problem. your motor will be fine until 450rwhp or so. i have seen some stock motors hit 500rwhp and have no problems but not every mustang isnt that lucky. most people say 450rwhp is a good ceiling to stop at. depending on what kinda blower kit your looking for id say go for the Vortech kit at MODULARPOWERHOUSE.COM......i paid like 4100 for the full blower kit and dyno tune by Tim at MPH. The procharger kits also make very good power as well as the paxton kits.

as stated above its perfectly safe with a good tune
a few people though, myself included, will encourage you to build your motor first. because 400 rwhp sure is a jump from the stock 220-ish....but you get used to it quick...and you get the itch for more power....and personally after installing a Kenne Bell (and i'm no mechanic by any means) with my friend and my dad, let me tell you, a blower install is something you only really want to do once....especially if youre paying someone to do it.
and between a S/C GT or a Bolt-ons Mach1....i'd say GT because people are expecting you to be slower anyway....so youll catch a few maros/vettes off gaurd. Also, while the Mach is a 4v and responds beter to mods....the limits on the blocks are the same due to non-forged internals (about 450 rwhp)....so stick with what you got, slap a blower on, and go spank an LS1 or two, and even beat up on a few 4Vs haha....
