Hey guys I got bosch plugs the other day and ngk tr-6s... I heard lots of good stuff about the ngk's so i wanted to try both and see for myself.. I used bosch first and was very dissapointed, so i put the ngk's in and my car runs just as smooth as a brand new car. Just a suggestion if anyone is gettin ready for a tuneup. they arent expensive either.

 

just a question, where did you buy them? and how come you bought the NGK TR-6's when NGK states on their website that our mustangs use TR55? or TR55GP for the "G-Power" platinum.

 

I got them from summit, and i bought the tr6 because its the same thing as the tr55 but its a colder plug. They are 26 bucks shipped! plus i got a free hat and a catalog i thought it was my birthday when i opened the box!

 

First off, you can buy them at any parts store in your area. I buy mine at Napa or Advance. They are $1.89 each. I think with tax it comes to $17 or so. The TR55 is a stock heat range plug. The TR-6 is one step colder, the BR7EF is two steps colder. I have a 96 cobra engine and installed TR-6's gapped at .035". I would reccomend .035" for N/A cars and .030" for s/c'ed.

I gapped them at .035. however as for me there was only 1 place that just now finally started carrying them but couldnt find them in the back so i said eff it and ordered them.

 

yea ngk's are the best. for my supercharged car i used tr55ix gapped at .042 with my new msd coils. bigger gap with my bigger spark.

I don't like this set-up! You'd better be careful. You should have one heat range colder with a supercharger. The TR-6 plugs. Also, they should be gapped smaller than what you have. They need to be at .030". You will lose slightly on the lower end, but as soon as your psi picks up your good to go. A bigger gap with a bigger spark on a FI car means a hole in the piston or misfire on higher roms. The reason mainly for the smaller gap is because the spark has a tough time getting to the electrode fast enough when the car uns higher rpms and because the further it's gapped the hotter she runs! Again, I don't like thr TR55's for you app, and I hate the platinums!

 

where they boschs platinum plugs, alot of people say to stay away from plat plugs

 

i run the br7ef's... they run even smoother than the tr6's i think!!

the stock heat range plug is not good for boost... something unexpected could happen and your motor could be damaged from the higher boost level your at with the bigger gap... i would definatly gap them lower. im gapped at .35 and i have accel coils for even more spark.
