Default A/C Troubles... Yay for winter

Ok, so my clutch went bad for my A/C compressor so its gots to go. I am thinking about just doin an A/C Delete because its a good excuse to save money and (some) weight (not really). Do I need to install the delete pully, or can I simply get a smaller belt? or will my belt/pully setup not work right w/out that extra pulley?

Also, how much do you think my compressor is worth? It works fine, my clutch just gave out and i dont feel like replacing it. I want to sell the Compressor on the parts section but Have no idea what to ask for it. Its winter anyways, and I never use my A/C in the summer, cant afford too, haha.

I'd get it fixed.
I know you aren't looking to sell the car right now but if you ever decide to get rid of it,a car without A/C is worth a lot less than one with A/C.
Especially in the South.

well

do you do a lot of highway driving? its cheaper to run your a/c on the highway than it is to have the windows down

70mph winds + open space = vacuum inside your car

I dont really know what all goes into it...i don know how much he is charging for labor and for the part as individual that just what he quoted me as a whole...plus thats going to be a CHUNK out of my money ( im only 17 making $6/hr [:@])....so my parents want let me get it fixed until it completely craps out on me...so im pretty much driving around with my car sounding like a POS!

And could that be the reason mine is so messed up...I ALWAYS ride around with the windows down but my a/c is on low too...

That is about right on the price. I just replaced mine because my mechanic thought that was what was wrong. But when replacing a compressor, you need to replace the drier, and orfice tube also. I got the compressor from O'Reilly's for about $199, and the drier and orfice from Advanced for about $50. Then the labor that the dealship charges. It was real simple to change. I would advise trying to do it yourself. I am acutally in the middle of selling mine old one right now. It is still good. If the buyer doesn't send money by this weekend, then I would be willing to sell you my old one.

swooshonln- If it is only your clutch out, then just get it fixed. It is only like $80 for a new clutch for your compressor.
