So if worse comes to worse I might end up having to buy another shifter? Where could I find that plastic "ball" to buy? Like what store?

Did you install your shifter? If you have a Tremec 3650 you need the plastic cap that goes on the end of the medal ball of the shifter that fits into the transmission. I would say if you dont have that its gonna be a Ford only item and you can prolly get it at a dealership.

had the same problem with my steeda. you have to tighten your bolts that hold the arm to the frame on the shifter.

i used loctite just to make sure

deff. will be buying a mgw soon. how short can you adjust that throw with those screws in the front and back of the shifter arm?

You cant adjust the throw on the MGW. I think you might be refering to the shifting stops. What you can do is adjust the handle 360* so it is comfortable. They used to make different handles to make the throw shorter but they dont anymore that I am aware of.

what is the shortest smoothest shifter?

i have a steeda short throw but its not a tri-x. does that mean its a 5.0?

and what do you mean by shifter stops?

If its a steeda then its probably a tri-ax. Shifter stops are the bolts in the front and back of the shifter that you can thread in and out to keep you from overshifting and bending a shiftfork. Tremec 3650s come with internal stops so i didnt use mine. I love my mgw, but if you already have a triax i wouldnt spend the money to get an mgw. Any short throw is tons better than stock. As far as what gives the smoothest shift I cant answer that, as I have only had experience with my mgw. Most people seem to like the mgw though.
