I'm about to get some 3.73's for my 04 GT. Was looking at the install kits on american muscle. Should i get the whole motive bearing kit or just the intall kit or what?? They both say for cars over 60k miles. Mine has 37k on it. What should i get

Thats your call. I bought the entire rebuild kit for my 99, but i have 145,000miles on my car. This is the first time the rear end components have been replaced. I think that you should be just fine with the shim kit. You wont need the bearings for your car unless you beat on it 24/7.

with 37k miles that's kind of a tossup. But then again you've already got the thing apart why not throw new in?

When I changed out my gears to 3:73's. My car only had 10,000 miles on it.I changed all the bearings, races, etc. It's better(and cheaper) to be safer that sorry.

Yeah you should, even if your car is stock and has low mileswhich means you really don't have to,might as well spend a little more money to have it all new. I only changed the inner and outer bearings because it was a lot easy to put newbearings then to try to press out the old ones from thestock gears.

I was wondering this same thing also because I have just under 60,000 on mine. BUT, with a twist on the question, if I still have a warranty on my car and I changed the gears out without doing the whole install kit, would the warranty cover any bearings that went bad still or any damage? Or is the warranty voided once you take the cover off?
