wait, this is ticking me off then, i have 4.10s and at 70mph my rpms are at like 2500. shouldnt i be ata lower rpm since i dont redline till 7k?
With your '97 and 4.10s, 2500 rpm @ 70 is right where it should be--5th gear in your tranny is 0.68:1, it's 0.62:1 in the 3650.Here's my "what speed in what gear" calculator...

The '97 GT and Cobra had a Borg-Warner T-45 (I think they were still made by B-W, Tremec made trhe later T-45s).

Follow up questions: What RPM should I set my shift light at? Also, what RPM do I take off in first gearto not spin my tires so much? Sorry for all the questions but I'm really getting some good answers.
Basically, you want to shiftjust before youredline. That may be a little past peak power, but it allows you to have more power when you hit your next gear. I launch at 2000 and gradually push the gas pedal to the floor as the car gets traction. Going immediately to WOT is hopeless with street tires.
