Default overheating

I have a 96 4.6 GT thats been overheating a lil bit. We've already replaced the radiator( had a leak) and had the cooling system flushed. Now it hasent gotten hot in 2 months cause of the cold, and yesterday when i was coming home from Austin, it died. I let off the cruise control and it died, the temp was between the M and the A on the temp gauge. I let it sit for 20 min, started it and it made the rest of the 200 mile trip without a problem, but I didnt use the cruise controll after it died. Should I get a lower temp thermostat? All i have performance wise is a cat back and a CAI. Any help would be awesome!

did you replace the thermostat when you flushed the coolant? If not, that should have gotten replaced and I would think it would fix it.

Did you fill the cooling system the correct way. The overflow tank is not the highest point in the cooling system. Take the heater hose off the intake right next to where the TB is. Fill there untill water/coolant starts to come out the put the hose on. Fill the overflow and start the car. Once it warms up and the thermostat opens top off the overflow.
