Default squeeling noise

Alright,

I am new to this site but that is besides the point. I drive a 1999 ford mustang gt 4.6with 70,000 miles on it.
It is yellow, with a black top convertible, and it is a standard.I will have pictures posted as soon asI can.
I am having a slight problem. When I press the clutch in it sounds like there is a rat running on a wheel in my engine.
But when i let off the clutch it does not happen. It usually takes about 5 seconds until you hear the sound.
I thought it was a belt at first, but once again it only happens when I press in the clutch.

+1 the throw out bearing will make that sound. you may want to check the clutch for wear when you replace that to?

Go to ford and get the factory OEM Throwout bearing. Mine had 125,000 miles on it, and was still working when I removed it to change the clutch, pressure plate, and pilot bushing.

You should do the same, once you go through the hassel of dropping the tranny, replace the pilot bushing, TO bearing, clutch and pressure plate if needed, and inspect the flywheel, have it turned if needed. I replaced mine with Aluminium. *grin*

if you bring it to have the tob replaced it'd be a good idea to replace everything just so you dont have to worry about it down the road
