Default Buying a High Mileage 4v- what to look for.

well for some time know ive been debating wheather or not to sell my GT for a mach or termi but i always thought with the money i would spend buying a stock4v car(maybe a mach or cobra at least in the 16k range) i could just use that to SC the GT. well recently i was just looking around local ads and noticed a 2003 White mach 1 (5sp) was for sale. it looks be in good condition, 2nd owner car (bought it from carmax) and BONE stock. The thing is it has 61,000 miles. Not TOO high but deffinetly not a weekend car. So my question is this seems to be a great deal since i can probably get it for 13k.... is this a good deal? More importantly, what are things to look for in a high mileage 4v machanically? i know they are not as simple machines as a 2v GT are probably more prone to wear and tear (AFAIK) Should i sell my GT for this?

well, parts are more expensive from what I hear (depending on what part). IMO I would get the mach if it's in good condition. I have a 98gt with 111000 on it (top end of motor only has 70xxx?). As long as they took care of it, it should last a long time. My best friend has a 99 cobra. He's only had one issue (besides the recall on the 99 cobra's with the loss of HP, which has nothing to do with the mach you are looking into) and it had something to do with his coolant leaking. From what I hear, it was a simple fix.

If you plan on keeping a car forever, I'd get the mach, obviously it's more of a collectors car. Price seems good.

Damn you can get it for 13k?! wow thats a steal of a deal, they go for about 20k in my area and they are very rare here. *mabey seen3 or4 in the past year or two* If you have the $$ i would suggest have a good mechanic give it a pre-purchase inspection.

Ithink it is a good deal, but first aska mechanic to inspec the engine with a compretion test, that would be one of the most important imo.

I sold some parts the other day to a guy who pulled up in a 96 Cobra with 130,000+ miles on it. Still sounded vicious and he said it ran low 13s. I forget what he said was done to it, but it was only lightly modded.
