Default 2004 4.6 motor oil

I just bought a new 2004 GT. Looking for motor oil (do myself). 5w-20 weird type. Is there a synthetic type available or do you have to use Ford type

MOBILE 1 5w-30 seems to be a good choice. Yes it is pure synthetic.

i use motorcraft 5w20 in mine. it's what ford recommends for synthetic and motorcraft is a lot cheaper than mobile 1 and is still good quality shat.

Synthetic oil is by far the better oil over dino oil. Redline, Amsoil, the Purple stuff, Mobil 1, Motorcraft synthetic are all good oils. I personally use Redline 5-30 in my 03 Mach1, and I also use their filters. Synthetic oils are more expensive, but they lubricate much better, and you can drive the car further between changes.

How many miles further can you go? I've heard people say you can go for over 6k miles without changing it, but that just seems too long. Does anyone know some numbers from a reputable source?

actually, you can go like 5-6k on regular oil really. your manual should say i think it's 4,000 or 5,000 on regular oil i read. that whole 3,000 mile every oil change is just a way for places like jiffy lube to make money.

yeah dont buy into that whole 3000 miles thing, its something jiffy lube made up years ago and now everyone acts as if its true...u can change ur oil every 4000-6000 miles and youll still be perfectly fine

5-20 is a ford spec motor. I wouldn't go any more then 5-30. But you can find 5-20 in all leading manfactuers. I run RP 5-20 with no issues.
