Default Back firing 03 GT

My brother's 03 GT will back fire ever once in a while when he starts it. I did some looking online and couldnt find anything thing that worked. As far as I know it started after he put on an off-road X pipe. We also rebuilt the rear at the same time and put in a new gear. He took it to get it tuned and got the rear o2s to be disregarded by the computer. He also had mils on it but I just took them off and it didnt help. A got a P0340 code that same cam sensor circuit. He replaced the sensor hoping that would fix it but it didnt. Whats wrong with it. I suck at drivability crap.

Default RE: Back firing 03 GT

I think he has done that. He took it to a dyno shop and they changed it for the gear and change it so the rear o2s didnt read (a built in mil I guess is a good way to put it).

Mostly what Ive been seeing lately after Ive looked some more is that hte alt is the culprit. Does that sound right. We unhooked the charge back wire and it didnt do it. Only thing throwing us for a loop is everyone else online with the alt problem says they have it everytime they start the car. My brother doesnt. It just does it once in a while.
