Default Stock rod question?

Ok so i'm ordering my stage 2 cam and was debating how high to rev the motor. I know the stock rods are weak but will they take 6500 rpms. Then i began to wonder how a cobra motor (2001 motor) could rev to 7000 on the same rods as ours! So would it be ok to rev my motor that high to get the most out of my cam? I probably should research this topic from a previous forum but I'm giving you all something to do by answering me lol! Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't try to rev it past 6500. There is just no reason to rev a stock headed/cammed 2v because the power starts to drop off at about 5500 anyway. But if your doing cams or a centri, and can actually take advantage of the extra couple hundred rpm, then then I don't see any reason not to spin 6500. Like you said, there are several other year/model mustang uzing the same rods that have higher rev limits.

The cobra valvetrain is more suited for the higher rpms is what I've been told when I asked this same question. I had my limiter on 6500 after the pi swap, cams and all before I procharged it with no problems.
