Default MOTOR question

I am wanting to start building a motor for my car but im not sure if i should buy a short block or start from scratch i was just wnting some opinions on what are some good ideas. i would to put the aluminum 4.6 motor in because i was told that it is a stronger block able to with stand over 1600hp and the iron block was only good to about 900 hp. any thoughts would be apperciated.

lol........... anymore its just as cheap to buy a fully assembled short/long block from d.s.s. unless you have a machine shop and can do all of the work yourself. and do you really think that you'll ever see 900 hp?????? think about that before you buy it will save you some cash.

I used to ask questions like this. The best answer is, if you have to ask this question, you're not going to make 1600HP or even 900HP anytime soon. And also, those numbers wouldn't be doable on the street. Is this just going to be a track car?

I'm not gonna get in to what it takes to produce 900hp or max out the cast iron block cause thats a rediculous amount of power for a street car let alone a 2v. But if you are gonna build a car with some serious power then definitely get a professionally built motor. Several companies including MPH and MMR offer the aluminum block as an upgrade but I doubt they are as strong as the iron blocks.

If it were me, i would just buy a longblock from MMR with forged internals, all the goodies, stage 2 p/p heads, and custom blower cams. Slap that baby in and she'll put down some nice numbers and take whatever you can throw at it.
