Default Flashed?

Hey I have a question. I was talking to someone at a car place about doing stuff to my 96 mustang and he said that i could get my computer flashed. What does that mean? I know there are chips out I.E. Predator ect. ect. Is this what hes talking about? If this is the most stupid question you have ever heard please keep in mind that im kind of a newb with this stuff. Thanks.

Basically flashing your computer is just reprogramming it for your mods. It's like adding a chip without a chip, if that makes sense.

Depends on your mods. If you have alot of mods it would be best to get a dyno tune and get the timing and A/F ratio right on.

I only have a programmer and I do just fine for now. My car is still under warranty though and if it has to go in for service I can re-load the factory tune.

I want to have 3 different tunes that I can switch via a selector switch in my car. one for nitrous tune, daily driver tune, stock tune (if it has to go into ford). Do I need a chip to hold this many or can the stock one do?
