Default Built Auto tranny

I have a stock auto tranny in an 02 gt, i have a diablo tuner but will be getting the SCT X cal 3 soon. I was wonderin g what all needs done to the tranny to build it up for the streets? I have 4.10's and have 56,000 miles. Instead of a manual swap i wanted to just build the tranny to be quick.

Thanks all

IMO, you dont need to build the tranny for your mods. You should just look into a shift kit, tranny cooler, gears, and stall converter. I would only get a built tranny if you were pushing good numbers and your stock one couldnt handle the tq anymore...the tranny to me is one of those things where why rebuild it if its working fine? tranny's can get very pricey too...

+1

The above will deff. get it to shift quiker (shift kit or J-Mod), launch harder (stall converter), and last longer (cooler). From what I have gathered our trannies are pretty solid. One of the most common week points is the overdrive band, but as long as you dont shift into over drive at wide open thotle you should be ok. Just any time you are going to push it, make sure the OD is off.

PM me if you want to sell the diablo tuner.

I agree with everyone. If you are dead set on a build auto I would look to BC Automotive. Thats where I got mine from. It had the j-modded valve body and made the shifts just plain sick. The 1-2 shift would chirp the tires without fail. A tuned converter will make a huge difference.

Honestly though unless you have big power plans in the future just do like they said and keep your stock trans....converter, cooler, and j-mod and be done.
