short block question
this might be the wrong forum but oh well figure id ask it anyway this is where i always post. so ive been doing extensive research and want a new short block. i figure the only way to beat the ls motors is to be displacement around the same as them. so i know the 4.6 heads are the same as 5.4 head (sohc).
so here is my question: cani get a 5.4 block, bore it .040 over and put 351 pistons in it? which will make it a 5.8. then put my PI sohc heads on? (which will probably have bigger cams and some porting) also shoot for around a streetable 10.5:1 compression.
any comments?
thanks

RE: short block question
No you can not bore a 5.4 .040 over. It has to be sleeved to 3.70. You will never fit 351w pistons into a modular engine. You have to use 3.70 pistons and stock 5.4 stroke to get 351 cid. Put in a stroker and it will be 363 cid.
All of that is fine and dandy but the 2v heads even after being ported will never flow enough to make good use of that much cid.
Price tag for maybe 100 more hp if you do this will be around $10,000.
Just buy a supercharger
