Underdrive pulleys and capacitor

Underdrive pulleys and capacitor
Ok, so I'm going to do my last couple bolt-ons next month and finally get a dyno tune. The thing is I need pulleys, but have 2 400 watt amps powering my stereo system. I've heard of a capacitor that is suppose to work with high wattage systems that will allow you to run the pulleys. Anyone know exactly what the capacitor does and how much money they cost?[&:] I really want to do the pulleys before I do the tune.[sm=feedback.gif]

RE: Underdrive pulleys and capacitor
We just put one on my wife's Stang when she got her new stereo system put in. Forgive me trying to explain...but the stereo dude said it keeps the pull on your electrical system at a constant rather than the lights and such dimming when the bass is thumping. If I remember right, the capacitor was like $65.00.

Cool an electronic question!. The capacitor will hold a certain amount of energy (depending on the size of the capacitor), and will take some of the strain off of the car battery because it also holds a charge of power. Think of it as a small "reserve battery". Then the sound system needs a little extra juice the capacitor discharges it's energy to help. Then it charges back up. Hope this helps if it dosen't let me know.
