AC *POP*

AC *POP*
am wondering if anyone had this same issue as on my 01 GT.
Whenever I turn on the AC about 33% of the time, 5sec later a hear a large POP come from
under the hood area*but just one pop*. another thing when Im sitting at a stop light with the ac
on it makes a pretty large rattling noise from the hood for about 5sec on and 5sec off.
Just wondering if maybe the AC is gonna die on a 100degree day when I'm 100mi from home :P
