Default Faint Grind...

Well I just got my car last night from Carmax, I couldnt be happier with the car its a 2003 GT with 11k miles.

Since Im really not used to these cars I was listening to it carefully and noticed when I am in 2nd gear and low rpm (example in my complex there are speed bumps and i keep it in 2nd clutch in and out to accelerate deccelerate) I hear a faint grind, now from my experience a grind is NEVER a good thing...

let me know what you guys think.. I still got 30 days to take it back to carmax, and it still has the factory ford warranty

Where do you think the grind is coming from? Transmission, the engine, rear of your car? Does it happen when pressing the brakes? I think we'll need some more info. before someone can help you out.

At what RPM are you cruising in 2nd gear?

You could be too low in the power band and be 'lugging' the engine, it'll make all sort of nasty grinding/rattling noises.

Yeah, it is normal. 1st and 2nd gear in these cars is noisey. My friends and co-workers always notice/ask about it whenever they get into my car and we drive around a parking lot. 1st is the worst. I dont' think i'd call it a grinding though...more like a whine.

Well if you drive your car right second gear shouldn't bog down like that.
