Default RE: Why Didn't Ford Do This?

As far as the question referring to all the handheld tuners out there, Ford programs the ECU for the best of both worlds. The stock program is a good middle ground between gas mileage and power. If you really read into what most of the tuners like Brenspeed and VMP are saying and offering, you get a tune for each. They can set you up a tune for gas mileage, but you're not going to get peak performance out of the car. The same goes for power and torque, they can give you a tune that increases your car's performance, but don't expect to get better gas mileage than stock. And I totally agree with everyone commenting on the price of the aftermarket. I have what I consider a very small list of mods on my car, and counting the BBK shorties I have waiting to get thrown under the car, I've spent around $1500 so far. It's not cost effective for Ford to do this. Besides, who wants a 'stang that looks, sounds, and performs like every other mustang out there? I'll do my own mods.
