Quick gasket sealant question

I'm replacing my lower intake gaskets today. I noticed that the ones that I removed didn't have any sealant on them. Do you actually need sealant on these gaskets?

I need to know this also because I am installing my new intake today. Just waiting on my gaskets to arrive.

I called a ford dealer parts sections. They said no sealant is needed.
