Default Oil Pressure problems

What Is the factory oil pressure rating? also what would cause oil pressure to go from 80psi to 20psi when it warms up?

on first startup the oil is cold and thicker cuasing higher oil pressure.

Like BlackStallion said 20 to 45 psi (at 1500 rpm).Your other question is why they stoppedinstalling real oil pressure guages...

That sounds about right. On cold start...oil pressure at cold idle...is around 80 psi on my autometer guage...assuming the guage is accurate? When I give it a little rev it jumps to 90 and rev little higher...I've seen it peg my guage at about a 100psi. I first I thought this can't be right? But I guess ford assembled these engines under tight tolerances. When the oil warms up at idle it is about 18-20 psi. Which seems lower than the rating they give...but like I said that is idle. Ford's rating I think is what was said earlier at right around 1500rpms...which would be higher than stock idle.

I remember my old 91 5.0, the oil pressure in that thing never got above 55psi even at cold pressure. So seeing a high number like that kind of shocked me too when I seen it that high and then go down so much.
