Default Battery drain overnight...

I've been having an issue with a power draw that's been killing my battery overnight, I've replaced my alternator 3x's within that past 3 months, I was missing a bracket that was attached to the alternator and everytime i reved up, it would do some damage to the internal parts of the alternator. So I replaced that bracket and the alternator, then I started to get a power draw that's been killing my battery overnight, I 've done major process of elimination to determine what was drawing power...disconnected all guages, cd player, removed fuses, replaced fuses, disconnected the main harness from the computer and still had a draw, getting very frustrated. There may be something grounding out or something of that sort...any suggestions from anyone would be appreciated.

Do you have a test light without a resistor in it. If you do disconnect the + side of the battery put the test light b/n the cable and the battery post make sure all doors are closed and all lights are off let it sit for a few minutes and see if the light dims if it doesnt then you have a draw so then you start pulling fuses one by one to see which circuit it is.

I have thought about the alternator, its never done that before the 2 replacements, the 3rd time started the battery drain, I'm also suspecting an electrical problem.

how old is the battery? I'm not trying to sayyou dont have a possible draw somewhere. But maybe the battery is bad from being drain so many times and possibly is shorted internally. You could try making sure it has a good charge and disconnect it over night. And see if it starts the next day. If the battery is shorted internally you can find out this way. If it starts then your going to have to do the process of elemination like mustangman03 said But i would rather use a volt meter and use the amp setting.

That is true about it could be the battery you can also go to autozone and they can test the battery to see if it good or bad. A bad alternator can make a battery go bad, and a bad battery can make a alternator go bad. Themultimeter is a better way but a test light is cheaper I have both a Snap-on test light and a Fluke 88 multimeter. Do your interior lights go out when you shut the door you could have a bad door ajar switch also check and make sure the trunk light is going off just some easy checking before you get real indepth with this and it be something simple.

put a meter on the positive cable and see what your draw is. then start pulling fuses and when the draw drops, you know which circuit has the problem. once you know which circuit it is, you will have to hunt down the problem and repair it.

Here's what I found, the alternator was pretty much burned out inside, got a full refund on the damn part, some young punk at auto zone tried to play me and sell me an already returned alternator...swapped it out so he could take the new one for his ride. My return got the kid fired, guess he was pullin those tricks for awhile now and they caught on to it...
