Default tranny rebuild maybe?

i have an 01 gt 5spd and i believe that the tranny is starting to show signs of going south such as syncros not aligning gears properly, front bearing rattling etc....my question is it better to just rebuild it, buy a used one, or find another tranny other than my 3650? think budget before you type

Be more specific. How tight is the budget? If minimal, I would say just buy a used one and either swap it out yourself or pay someone to do it.

Is there any slop in your steering? I noticed a LOT of transmission issues lately, as well as suspension. I thought my shocks and struts were going out and my transmission at the same time. What I found was, after visiting a local shop was, that the rack and pinion bushings (15$ at autozone) were bad. They tightened down some bolts to bandaid the issue and the difference was unreal. Tranny shifted right again, it steered great and it felt like I'd upgraded the car. You would be surprised how much can go wrong with your car without you noticing. I sure was...

Maybe this is completely off topic, but try replacing those bushing first. Maybe you'll see a similar improvement in performance that you can avoid the rebuild. By the way, after they tightened up, I missed considerably less gear and in fact had no shifting issues until the bushings died out on me (just like they siad they would after about 4 to 8 hours or so of driving time).
