Default Stripped Wheel Stud and Brakes

So today after changing my rear brake pads I realized I had two stripped wheel studs after I was done bleeding all the brakes. Both were located on the rear. Is is as easy as removing the caliper and bracket and simply just pounding out the stud and replacing it with another or is their more involved?

Also I want to upgrade my whole braking system. I plan on SS brake lines, but don't know which calipers and rotors would be best for me. What would you guys recommend since this is my DD and I do a lot of city driving to school.

you got it just remove the caliper, bracket and rotor and hammer the old one out. When installing the new stud. Your gonna need a spacer and the new lug nut to pull the new stud into the axle. heres a pic i found that gives you an idea of how to do it.

Don't know if your stang has ABS, but check out page 2 of this thread: https://mustangforums.com/forum/4-6l-1996-2004-modular-mustang/331309-how-to-replace-wheel-studs.html

use grade 8 flat washers if you dont have a suitable spacer like oversized nuts in the pics

Pulling the stud all the way in is a lot easier with an impact of some sort. That's what I've used without a hitch.

Sorry, I've been on sparodically...

Well if you haven't got it yet... It was a tight fit getting the studs in and out. You really have to wedge it past the abs ring, but once you get it over the edge, I just banged it out. I didn't have to use a whole lot of force and it just came out. When putting it back in, same deal- just put it in enough to get it in the hole and clear the ring. Once you can put the nut on it, slap it on and start turning it to close the gap. It will easily clear the ring this way. It left a small nick on my ring, but nothing serious at all, it was on the edge furthest from the sensor and less than a mm wide.

All this took about 10 minutes. It really goes pretty fast.

+100 on getting a puller or grade 8 washers with a flat sideed nut. I used a stack of common washers and used my original acorn nut. It deformed the hell out of those washers and getting those washers off of the new stud took longer than getting the stud in place.
