It was kinda hard to tell because your exhaust is pretty loud. Mine made the noise when I downshifted and it was a higher pitched sound that came and went as the engine and vehicle speed wore off. The good news is, since I'm really short on cash, my mom loaned me $2500 to fix the car and I doubt it will cost that much. So I may be getting a Tri-Ax shifter or 75mm T/B and plenum. :-)

Did you locktite the ring bolts when you installed them for the last time?

My first gear swap the bolts backed their way out, I didnt have any noise though. Just a loud bang, clunk, clunk, clunk. A bolt got jammed in the ring gear and hit the pinion gear when it spun around. The shop wouldnt stand behind their work so I had to pay for another job. I was going to take them to court but I put it off and then said f-it.

I wasn't there when my buddy had the Ford tech do them the second time, but that could be a possibility. You'd think that the tech would know that though. Wow, if it was something simple like that...jesus...

IT WAS THE RING BOLTS!!! Every damn one of them backed out of the carrier. Luckily the ring and pinion were not harmed and the only damage done was when one of the bolts punctured the diffy cover. BUT... the Mustang guru that is working it, said that since the ring gear got loose, new grooves were worn into the teeth and they might whine now. What a PITA just because the guy forgot to use Locktite.
