Auto to manual swap -- speedo?

Auto to manual swap -- speedo?
Hey a friend of mine just did a auto to manual swap on an 01 gt. Now his speedo is off. Does he need to get the ECU flashed, or get a new one, or is there some sort of fix for it? It shows like double the speed.
